Tom Hardy reveals that the script for Venom 3 has moved along – and he’s been working on the story along with Kelly Marcel: more here.

Not the planet’s most surprising news story this, but hey, here we are. After the raging success of the two Venom movies to date – and the second, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, cleaning up in the midst of Covid hell – there’s a third one on the way.

The news has been confirmed over at Tom Hardy’s Instagram page. Hardy, of course, has been playing the character across two films so far, and will be back for a third. Furthermore, he’s putting his story ideas into the third film again.

Also returning is screenwriter Kelly Marcel, and she’s penning the script for Venom 3 based on a story that she and Hardy have concocted together. The fact that Hardy’s posted this suggests that things have advanced sufficiently. It’s unclear though who’s going to be directing this time around. Andy Serkis is the incumbent (with Ruben Fleischer having helmed the first), but he might just be about to get his long-mooted take on Animal Farm moving.

Sony won’t want to hang around though, so expect news on Venom 3 sooner rather than later. As we hear more on the project, we’ll let you know…
