Wicked lands in UK cinemas the Christmas after next.
Whilst the rush is still on to finish off the Cats movie, that heads into cinemas next month, Universal already has its next big screen musical venture lined up. As was confirmed earlier this year, the film of Wicked is finally set to move ahead.
Stephen Daldry is set to direct the film, with Winnie Holzman adapting her musical book for the screenplay. And whilst we discovered back at the start of the year that a December 2021 release was on the cards in the US, we’ve spotted that the film has slipped onto the UK release schedule too.
Wicked will be in cinemas on December 22nd 2021 in the UK, with production expected to take place in the UK next year. As it stands, no firm casting has been announced, although there’s no shortage of speculation.
Expect the film to start crewing up in earnest next year. More on the movie as we hear it.
