A new writer jumps aboard the planned new Charlie And The Chocolate Factory film.

Hmmm. A while back, news landed that Warner Bros was developing a prequel to Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, as it looked to have a third run at bringing Roald Dahl’s beloved story and characters to the screen. At one stage, Paddington director Paul King was linked with this one, and apparently, he still is. But progress has been slow, and the project was assumed missing, presumed lost.

But not so.

We missed this a week or two back, but news now lands that Warner Bros has hired another writer for the project. Simon Rich had penned the first screenplay for the movie, but now, Jeff Nathanson has been recruited for the film. His CV includes films such as Catch Me If You Can and the most recent take on The Lion King.

The movie is being produced by David Heyman, and whether Donald Glover remains the top of the casting list is unclear, given how much time has passed. But we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
