Gene Wilder’s take on the character of Willy Wonka is getting the 4K treatment, courtesy of an upcoming disc release – more here.

Roald Dahl’s book Charlie & The Chocolate Factory has been adapted twice for the big screen. There’s the version we try not to talk about from the early 2000s, and the version Dahl himself didn’t like from the early 1970s.

It’s the latter we’re talking about, the superb, loose adaptation of the book with Gene Wilder’s definitive screen portrayal of Wonka. At five decades old, the film is getting a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release too this June, with Warner Bros listing the movie for UK release on the format in the UK.

The disc is listed for release on June 28th 2021 in fact. It’s carrying across previous extra features from the (excellent) Blu-ray release, and you can find more information and order a copy right here.
