X-Men: The New Mutants – refunds starting to be issued

The digital listing for X-Men: The New Mutants is updated, as the mystery over the release plans for the movie continues.

Well, this makes things a little muddier.

Earlier this week, preorders for an on-demand release of the long-delayed X-Men: The New Mutants started appearing at Amazon, both in the US and the UK. It’s little secret that the film has bounced around the release schedules since photography was completed back in 2017. And in the light of Disney – which now owns the picture – admitting it’s looking at potentially changing the cinema release plans for some of its movies, it looked like The New Mutants was going to skip the big screen altogether.

However, after being live for a few days in the UK, the preorder page for The New Mutants has now been updated at Amazon UK with the following message…

It had previously been listed to buy in standard definition for £9.99 and high definition for £13.99, with no fixed release date. What’s more, we’re now hearing from people who did preorder the film, who are having those orders cancelled.

Which means we’re sort of back where we’re started. Josh Boone’s movie was completed just prior to lockdown and all set for an April release. As things stand, it’s not on the cinema release roster, and we’re no clearer again as to its digital release too.

Here’s the listing page at Amazon, and we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
