Xanadu getting a UK Blu-ray release

Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly headline the cult musical Xanadu – and it’s finally coming to Blu-ray in the UK this month.

Appreciating this is one of those stories that might have niche appeal at best, the 1980 screen musical Xanadu will be getting its first Blu-ray release in the UK later this month. It’s appeared on the format elsewhere in the world, but Fabulous Films has picked up the rights to the film, and is giving it an issuing over here.

The movie stars Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, made in the aftermath of the former shooting to stardom off the back of Grease. It wasn’t a huge success – a bit of an understatement there – on its original release, but it’s built up cult support since. And here we are, four decades after its original release, and a new disc release is incoming.

We’re not getting many extras, mind, but there’s still a retrospective documentary and the theatrical trailer on the Blu-ray. It’s selling for the princely sum of £9.99 too at the time of writing.

The disc is released on January 25th 2021, and you can find more information – and get hold of a copy – right here.
