30 years after they last saddled up for a cinema adventure, it looks like the Young Guns might just be returning.
Well, here’s a thing. Some 30 years after the release of the second film – Young Guns II: Blaze Of Glory – a third movie in the western movie series is now being planned.
There had been some chatter about this many, many years ago, but Hollywood eventually fell out of love with heavily belated sequels when several of them failed to deliver, either critically or financially. Still, Morgan Creek has been toying with fresh sequels to a bunch of films in its catalogue, and news broke that a new Young Guns adventure might be happening courtesy of screenwriter John Fusco.
He penned the first two movies in the series, and earlier this week, popped this up on his Twitter feed…
Emilio Estevez and I are excited to be collaborating on this continuation of the Billy the Kid saga – and you’re going to love where it goes @LouDPhillips @RealKiefer @ChristianSlater @EW @headgeek666 @vincentdonofrio @prattprattpratt @regulator pic.twitter.com/IOrTmULDOf

His subsequent Tweets have also strongly suggested a return for the series, and whilst it’s got a long way to go to get to the screen, there’s fresh life it seems in the Young Guns yet.
Suggested title: Old Guns. Trust the cheque will be in the post if they use that, because nobody else would have come up with that name.
