You’ve Been Trumped Too getting full release after four years of legal battles

A feature documentary about Donald Trump and the impact of his Scottish golf course is finally cleared of legal mire and able to be fully released.

Back in 2016, filmmaker Anthony Baxter had prepared and completed a new movie, following up his first expose of current US president Donald Trump. You’ve Been Trumped Too, the sequel to You’ve Been Trumped. Both films zero in on Trump’s golf course in Scotland, and the impact on the families and environment around it.

The second film got a very small Facebook streaming debut, but found its US release curtailed as a consequence of legal threats from the Trump organisation. Its distributor dropped out, its publicist dropped out, and the cost of getting basic insurance for the film skyrocketed.

Baxter has kept fighting though, which won’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s seen his two movies. And he’s issued an update confirming that – after years of legal battles – he’s now been able to get the necessary insurance to allow a film’s release. And that’s exactly what it’s going to get.

You’ve Been Trumped Too will finally be released across digital platforms from August 18th. Whatever your politics, it’s pretty unhappy viewing, and well worth seeking out.

Baxter has written about his experiences of the last four years at The Guardian, here.
