Zack Snyder’s Justice League (temporarily) leaks early

A select few viewers pressing play on Tom & Jerry over the weekend didn’t get quite the on-screen battle they were expecting.

Picture the scene. In a select few homes in America over the weekend, excited families gathered around the TV set to watch the brand new Tom & Jerry movie. The feature skipped cinemas during the pandemic, and thus debuted on the US streaming service HBO Max.

However, some viewers didn’t get Tom & Jerry when they pressed play.

Instead, they got the incoming four hour Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The same much-hyped new cut of the film that’s not due for just under two weeks.

Due to an error behind the scenes at HBO Max, for a very short amount of time, it turns out that viewers could watch the first hour of the new Justice League cut instead of the latest Tom & Jerry film. The error was quickly rectified, and a statement from HBO Max confirmed that “Zack Snyder’s Justice League was temporarily available on HBO Max and the error was addressed within minutes”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, those who shared screenshots from the movie over their Twitter accounts have had notices to take said images down.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League debuts on March 18th. We don’t get the Tom & Jerry film in the UK until May though – unless it accidentally plays when we try to watch Justice League?
